Passive Index

The Passive Index is a readability score. That is, it is a measure of how easy or difficult it is to read a particular text. In fact, the Passive Index is simply the percentage of sentences in a particular text that contains passive verb forms.

There are 16 sentences on the page entitled Easy-To-Understand Writing. Only two of these sentences contain a passive verb form. Consequently, that page has a Passive Index of 2/16 or 0.125.
